Located high up in Rockefeller Center, the fashion show apparently began a bit tardily, and Christian apologized from the runway, the Bradenton Herald reports.

NYFW backstage beauty: Christian Siriano

By Charlie Lankston at New York Fashion Week for DailyMail.com

The inspiration for Christian Siriano’s Fall/Winter 2019 show was ‘a trip to the future’, and it was that same otherworldly idea that inspired beauty pro Erin Parsons’ makeup look for the catwalk event.

Maybelline New York’s Global Makeup Artist ‘played off the sparkle and shine’ found in the collection in order to create a beauty look that was as much ethereal as it was strikingly alien.

Parsons created a ‘veil of crystals’ over the face and eyes of each model, explaining that, while the placement of the Swarovski ‘freckles’ was very uniform from one girl to the next, when she was first putting the look together, she put the stones where they felt best organically.

The final effect was that of a scattering of glittering beauty marks criss-crossing the face.

‘I wanted to create it like a veil,’ Parsons explained backstage. ‘Whenever I do stones I usually do them very organically so that they almost feel like freckles or beauty marks.’

But these were not just any beauty marks, quite the opposite in fact, with Parsons revealing that she insisted on Swarovski crystals for the look, instead of using just any old stones.

‘We talked about using stones, but I was like, nope these have to be Swarovski crystals, because I really wanted that true shine,’ she explained.

Parsons wasn’t the only one using the dazzling stones however – nail artist extraordinaire Rita Remark also used Swarovski crystals for the models’ talons.

Remark created an incredibly chic black-and-crystal finish that was inspired, she explained, by one of the shoes in the collection.

Because of the intricacies of the design, Remark and her team worked mostly with press-ons that had been pre-painted using Essie’s much-loved black-as-night shade, Liquorice, before being sprinkled with dozens of crystals along one third of the nail.

A few of the models had their nails painted fresh on the day, with Remark noting that she used Essie’s Speed Setter Top Coat in order to ensure that the polish dried as quickly as possible while maintaining the same dazzling shine as the budget-busting crystals.

But while the crystals may not have been the most budget-friendly item on the beauty menu, the bright blue mascara on the models lashes was another option entirely.

After using her fingertips to blend the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation into the skin,  before eliminating shine with the Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder, Parsons applied several coats of the Snapscara Washable Mascara in Deja Blue – a bargain item that costs just $7.99.

To ensure that bright pop of color, Parsons explained that she applied several coats – not to the point of clumpiness – and then if needed, she would brush out the lashes, re-curl them and apply again.

The final touches of the look came in the form of the Tattoo Studio Sharpenable Gel Pencil Liner in Sparkling Silver, which was drawn onto the inner corners of the eye for that extraterrestrial pop.

Finally, the skin was given an extra boost of radiance with the brand’s FaceStudio Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter, which was used on the cheekbones, chin, eyelids, nose and cupid’s bow.

And while the face and nails were remarkably sparkly, so too was the hair, thanks to TRESemme Global Stylist Justine Marjan, who created fierce chain-link ponytails for the models strutting their stuff on the runway.

First, the hair was prepped with the Repair & Protect 7 Pre-Styling Spray and the Keratin Smooth Shine Serum to keep it safe from heat styling.

Then, the hair was dried using the GHD Air Hair Dryer and set with no-crease clips to ensure a truly sleek style. Adding to that sleek style was the GHD Platinum + Styler, which was run through the hair from root to tip in order to smooth it down and leave it poker straight.

In order to attach the pre-made lengths of chain into the ponytail, the hair was split into two sections – front and back. The top of the back section was then twisted into a cornrow-style braid, which was then secured, before the lower section of hair was gathered into a pony at the nape of the neck.

Focusing once again on a shiny, sleek look, the locks were smoothed with the Keratin Smooth Shine Serum and then locked in place with the Compressed Micro Mist Hold Level 4: Extend Hair Spray.

Ten lengths of chain were then clipped into the braid, before the rest of the hair was brought down into the ponytail. The final piece of the puzzle was to spray the finished ‘do with the TRES Two Unscented Extra Hold Hair Spray to truly ‘seal in the look’.
